Not everything that heals happens in a hospital.

Hearth and Healing Bread Co. was born from a simple need to slow down. After nearly a decade working as a nurse, I turned to sourdough as a hobby — and it took nearly three months to produce a single loaf I was truly proud of.

"Somewhere in that process, it became more than just bread."

Sourdough taught me patience. It gave me a way to step away from the fast pace of everyday life and be present in the moment. The rhythm of mixing, folding, and waiting became a kind of therapy — something grounding and restorative.

What started in my own kitchen has grown into something I now share with friends, family, and coworkers who encouraged me to keep going. Hearth and Healing Bread Co. reflects that journey — where the warmth of the hearth meets the quiet healing found in slowing down.

Every loaf at Hearth & Healing is made using traditional sourdough methods — simple ingredients, time-honored technique, and a living starter cultivated over years. Just flour, water, salt, and patience.

The slow fermentation process isn't just about flavor — it makes the bread more digestible, more nutritious, and more meaningful.

The Starter

A naturally fermented culture fed and maintained over time — the living heart of every loaf we bake.

Mix & Fold

Dough is hand-mixed and gently stretch-folded to develop gluten structure naturally, without over-working.

Cold Ferment

Shaped loaves rest overnight in the refrigerator — up to 18 hours — developing complexity and that unmistakable tangy depth.

Bake

Into a screaming-hot Dutch oven for a blistered crust and open crumb. No two loaves are exactly alike — that's the beauty of it.
